Did you ever have a time when you started writing, then hit the backspace button over and over again, deleting the words you had just written? That was me this week. It has been a rough week. Hubs has had his second hip replacement, and there is a complication, but nothing we won’t get through. I’m tired, though, and whenever I am tired I tend to be a little emotional. I have tried for three days to write something that was begging to be born in my “White Space.” Some days that “White Space” is the most daunting thing we have to deal with.
Let’s talk about your “White Space.” Until the moment you begin to process your thoughts on paper or a computer screen, all that exists is the “White Space.” The White Space gives you the ability to create, promote, express, inspire, encourage and share whatever your heart desires. Share on XThe “White Space” gives you the ability to create, promote, express, inspire, encourage and share whatever your heart desires. The “White Space” gives you the ability to create, promote, express, inspire, encourage and share whatever your heart desires. Some of these expressions can be wonderful, and some may not be so good.
Have you ever thought about how much power the “White Space” has? We see it every day as people use the power of the “White Space” to post on blogs and various social media platforms, and in newspapers. Along with the power of the ‘White Space” comes responsibility. Once you write something and share, you have to be prepared for people to respond. Some will respond with positivity and others will react negatively. Trust me, there will also be people who will say things to you they would never say in public because they can hide behind the anonymity of the “White Space.”
It is noble to have an opinion and stand up for what you believe in; the ‘White Space” is great for expressing a person’s heart and motives. The “White Space” is also good at conjuring up arguments, hate, evil and the disdain of those who may think or be different than you.
The “White Space” also has the power to heal, empower, inspire and encourage others to seek truth, justice, and peace. When we use the power of the “White Space” for worthy reasons, lives are changed forever, and people are drawn to work together towards a common goal.
The “White Space” always starts out equal and doesn’t know race, color, gender or religious affiliation until we share that information. There is something unique about having a clean, unspoiled “White Space” which has never been affected or tarnished by the war of words.
The “White Space” is where ideas and dreams come alive, where words of love come from the deepest parts of our heart and hope gives away to the fulfillment of our soul. “White Space” allows your creativity to burst forth like a morning sunrise, capturing every beautiful ray of sunshine.
We all have ‘White Space” but, it is what you do with your “White Space” that matters. Don’t waste it on unimportant things that will make you wish you hadn’t squandered it. Use it to enrich and impact the lives of those you are connected with.
There are some who are not afforded the privilege and freedom of the “White Space.” Don’t take it for granted. Others have lost their lives in order for you to have the ability to use the “White Space.”
Now, it is time for you to decide what you will do with your own “White Space.”

so beautiful! Such a good reminder, which also, on some days, completely overwhelms me, but you are right… it is a GIFT!

White Space used to be really intimidating to me. But lately, God seems to be blessing me with fractions of his creative genius and that white space is filling quickly. I am loving it!

Everyday I feel the responsibilities of this and pray I use it for God’s will and not squander my time.

Lord, we thank you for taking such good care of us. We pray over Sheila and her husband as he recovers from hip replacement surgery. We pray his recovering will be speedy and that you will give Sheila the extra strength, patience, peace and rest she needs to take care of him during this time. In Jesus name – Amen!
That’s my white space!

Sheila, this was a good reminder of our responsibility as bloggers and writers that what we put out there needs to be done with kindness, humility and responsibility. I appreciate the accountability that others can give me for what I am putting in that white space. Great thoughts. Thanks for sharing. Praying for your hubby’s quick recovery. – Amy

I have more stuff than white space😀😀This means I need to refocus on the things that are important. I read blogs everyday with great advice, words of wisdom and tips, but I walk away everyday and live just like I’ve been living . Not sure what that says about me. Hmmm.. maybe that’s an idea for a post.
Sheila Rhodes says
Sheila,
I think we all could say we have more than “White Space.” Sometimes it is just a matter of going back and like you stated …refocusing on what is important and what we should let go! I can’t wait to see where God takes you for your post about all of this!
Blessings,
Sheila

Wow! This was so refreshing to my soul this morning. I had to write a two day lesson plan on the armor of God. Fitting all that is written into three short 20 minute segments! That was difficult. Then the Lord just quietly spoke to my heart and took the reins out of my hand. White space….I’ll never look at my screen the same. Thank you my sister. Love you.
