Spring is the time of renewal. Everything awakens from winter’s sleep like a child awakening from a nap and stretching out their arms toward you. The brownish grass turns bright green, and birds sing their melodious songs in the early morning. The dew is fresh, and nature begins a new season of life.
Flowers begin pushing through the ground raising their green leaves towards the sky. As each day passes the beauty of hyacinths, tulips with their long legs, and daffodils who wear their bonnets around their face cover the landscape in a beautiful display of color. The birds who went south for winter return with a flurry of activity as they fly to and fro looking for pieces of twigs, grass, hair, and mud to build soft nests for their eggs.
Once again you hear the sound of children’s laughter because the harshness of winter no longer confines them to the inside of their homes. Coats are no longer needed to keep you warm because the sun has found you once again. The freshness of the spring air fills your lungs, removing the staleness of winter.
The joy of seeing bunnies, squirrels and baby fawns frolicking in the fields reminds me that even the animals are happy winter is over. At night as you watch the sunset the peepers begin to hum an evening symphony in harmony. A sure sign that spring has arrived.
It is a new season. What will you be thankful for? Will you take the time to stop and enjoy the beauty around you? There is a saying which says “Stop and smell the roses.” We live in a fast-paced world which never wants us to enjoy the beauty or joy of God’s creation. Sometimes it is hard to stop, but you will never appreciate the fragrance of the roses if you don’t. Life has a way of passing us by, and we miss opportunities to appreciate the magnificent creation God gave us to enjoy.
Let this spring be different. Don’t focus on what you don’t have, but focus on what you do have. Celebrate your life and those around you. Laugh often and hard, the kind of laugh that causes tears to roll down your face and makes you unable to catch your breath. Open your windows and let the fresh air flow through your home. Hang your clothes on the line, but most of all hug more, love more and don’t allow life and all of its complexities to rob you of the gifts God created for you.
Take notice of the small things. Ever look inside the center of a flower and see the beauty on the inside? Watch as the trees bud and bloom with their new wardrobe of flowers and leaves. Look at the bees go from flower to flower pollinating each one to bring it back to life or collecting nectar to make sweet honey. Notice the smell of the air after a spring shower. Don’t be afraid to dance in the rain unless there are thunder and lightning. Make mud pies with your kids. Dirt will wash off, and the memories will last more than a season.
A new season is here. Life isn’t something to be endured; it is meant to enjoy! Don’t waste what God has allowed you to experience. Open your heart and embrace your new season. Never regret stopping to watch the sunset, listening to a bird sing or just being still watching nature. It not only delights you, but it delights God when we appreciate what He has created Share on XNever regret stopping to watch the sunset, listening to a bird sing or just being still watching nature. What is your favorite thing to do in the spring? Do you like to plant flowers or a garden and reap the rewards of your effort? Do you like to go for a walk or hike and immerse yourself in nature? Do you like to grab a pole and go fishing?
This spring, plant seeds of contentment and enjoy the many things which were designed to give you joy. The promise of tomorrow is never given, relish the moments of today. These are “Jesus Glitter” moments.
Psalm 150:6
Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord!
Praise the Lord!
