My Morning Prayer
Some days never go as planned. God’s schedule and our schedule are two different things. I have learned when I wake up in the morning I have to ask the Lord, “What we are going to do today?” Yes, it is good to have a plan, but you also have to be willing to be flexible. Friday was one of those days for me.
I had planned lunch with a friend who forgot we were having lunch. After connecting, we decided to postpone our date and get together at another time. With some free time, I decided I would get a jump on my errands because I had another friend who was going to call me later in the day. However, the friend who was going to call me later in the day ended up calling earlier because of a conflict, and I ended up chatting, on my cell phone, as I sat in the parking lot of the Dollar Store. We finished our conversation and said our goodbyes and I went into the store.
A Breakthrough At the Dollar Store
I hadn’t been in there very long when an elderly woman stopped me and said, “Don’t you love this store?”
“Yes, I do because it saves money and for everybody on a budget every penny helps.”
She introduced herself as Marianne and told me she was seventy-nine years old, retired from the F.B.I and had been there since she was nineteen years old. She was beautiful and looked much younger than seventy-nine, and I told her I wanted her genes. She then reached out and patted my arm and said, “Jesus just exudes from you!”
At first, I was a little startled, not expecting that to be her next comment. However, I told her I was glad He did and thanked her for such a beautiful compliment. She began to tell me she wasn’t having much peace about the election and wondered if I would pray for her.
I replied, “Of course, I would!” and as we were about to pray, another woman who had been listening to our conversation wanted to know if she could pray with us too. I replied, “The more, the merrier” and she asked if we could wait one minute so she could get her husband. She came back with her husband, sister-in-law, sister-in-law’s sister and children to pray for peace to fill people’s hearts. As we gathered in the back corner of the store with people of different ages and races and all complete strangers, I couldn’t help but think how God orchestrates every second of our lives.
How is it that all of these circumstances which had happened earlier in my day, just happened to bring me to the corner of the Dollar Store with eight random people who knew nothing about each other? I knew our chance meeting wasn’t a coincidence it was GOD incidence. God knows every one of His children and what they need.
As I bowed my head and began to pray, this wasn’t just a nice quiet prayer. It turned into an, “Amen, Lord!” and, “I receive it and believe it” prayer. Shouts of affirmation were given from those who were gathered and praying in our circle. At first, The enemy tried to intimidate me and tell me we were going to get kicked out, but then I thought, so what if we do?
So there we stood in the Dollar Store, praying for peace. Peace for people’s hearts and peace for our nation. We prayed WITH thanksgiving for the marvelous work God is, has done and will do. When we finished with our prayer, the husband spoke up and said, “People I believe we just had a breakthrough at the Dollar Store.”
Giving Thanks at All Times
Isn’t this what Thanksgiving means? Praising God for who He is in every situation no matter how we see the circumstances. It is easy to thank God when everything is good and going according to OUR plan, but what about when things don’t go our way? What then? Is God not worthy of our thanksgiving?
Despite what may or may not happen, God is STILL God Share on XDespite what may or may not happen, God is STILL God. He is still our King of Kings and Lord of Lords. God is the Alpha and Omega. He is the GREAT I AM! His Love hasn’t changed and or victory is STILL won! Don’t let the enemy trick you into thinking there is nothing to be thankful for when GOD is still on the throne!
Here is the difference,”We can either pray AT Thanksgiving or pray WITH thanksgiving. God gives us a choice, but to know His peace you have to know Him” When you know God, you CAN pray WITH thanksgiving knowing His will is perfect and He doesn’t make mistakes. God Trumps Everything!
My prayer is you can embrace this season WITH Thanksgiving with your loved ones and celebrate all of God’s blessings.
Happy Thanksgiving!
What are you thanking God for WITH thanksgiving?
