There was a project my daughter did in school called “Flat Stanley.” The purpose of Flat Stanley is to provide children with an opportunity to connect with other children or classrooms and create communication between recipients from all over the world.
The method in how this project is done is pure genius because each recipient already has a mutual friend, Flat Stanley, to write and talk about. In fact, as I followed Flat Stanley in my daughter’s adventure, I found him to be a well-traveled man who can speak many languages and knows exactly what to say in every situation.
It was an amazing journey to see where Flat Stanley would go, the people he would meet and where he would end up. Sometimes, Flat Stanley even found himself in a little hot water. Flat Stanley was inspirational on many levels because he could take you to places you may never be able to travel to on your own and do things you could only dream about. Flat Stanley has met many presidents, celebrities and even climbed Mount Everest. The one thing Flat Stanley always does is bring laughter, excitement and joy to children and adults alike.
So what does Flat Stanley have to do with Jesus Glitter? Everything! I am amazed at how much joy a flat piece of paper can bring to so many people. My thought is, if a flat piece of paper can impact so many people then think of the possibilities and impact you can make in people’s lives on a daily basis.
We don’t need to have a Flat Stanley to bring excitement, joy and laughter to people. All we need is to share the love, hope and encouragement of Christ. Flat Stanley brings temporary happiness, but Jesus brings eternal joy. What if we invested in the lives of those around us? What if we mentored a child or a single mom or dad? What if we invested our time at our local homeless shelter or food pantry?
There are many ways we can be the Jesus Glitter to those around us. The exciting element of this is YOU get to be the influence in the adventure. Who knew we had so much in common with Flat Stanley? Jesus wants us to connect with others and share His story. It is His desire for each of us to share his love, so others will meet him and find the same joy He longs to give to everyone.
Jesus said…
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another. John 13:34-35
