Do you ever have moments where God shows you His character or demonstrates His power, love and encouragement through people, nature and circumstances you could never orchestrate yourself? This is what I call “Jesus Glitter.” It is when God takes people, things and objects to create a story to share His glory and we give Him honor.
Everyday Jesus calls us to, “Be the Sparkle!” In Matthew 5:14-16 it tells us:
Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven. (MSG)
When we understand what God is calling us to do, not only are we blessed to serve Him by being obedient to the Father, we are given a precious gift of allowing others to see Jesus. His glitter is everywhere and will show up in the oddest places and on people, places and things you would never expect. We should expect the unexpected because our God is mighty and powerful and does everything beyond our imagination.
The definition of glitter is:
To shine by reflection, a sparking brilliance or have the quality of being spectacular
We live in a world which has become dark and what better way to demonstrate God’s amazing and profound love than to share “Jesus Glitter.” This is exactly what God wants us to be, “Jesus Glitter!” God made each of us to be His reflection and be spectacular so I want to encourage you to, “Be the Sparkle” no matter where God takes you today and every day.
I’m going public and taking handfuls of glitter and throwing it up in the air and letting it fall anywhere Jesus needs it to be. I hope you will join me on the journey and be encouraged, as I share the stories of where Jesus leads me and I look forward to hearing your stories of where you see “Jesus Glitter” and how He used you to “Be the Sparkle!”
Be the Sparkle…
